How Food Grown in an Urban Garden Can Benefit You
Growing a garden to provide produce for your self will not just lower your grocery bills; it may also provide you with a feeling of accomplishment and put healthier food in your kitchen. You don't need a large backyard space to grow your own produce, and you don't have to plant in pots or window boxes. Around the country people regularly get their green thumbs involved in community gardens located on taxpayers land. If you join a community garden you may pay a small fee for a plot of ground to grow fruit, vegetables, and flowers. Community gardens depending on the area are run by private, nonprofit foundations, and some are publicly funded and operated, or it may be run by a small group of private citizens. Some large metropolitan cities with vacant lots encourage citizens to establish gardens on lots owned by the city as a way of beautifying the city and increasing ownership in the way ones community is portrayed.
